Our Annual General Meeting in May has two key focus points: Women in international diplomacy, and women in PWN Vienna.
This is a German saying that translates into "May creates everything new" and is particularly appropriate for this year's May meeting.
Every two years, the PWN Vienna Co-Presidency changes. We will reflect on the highlights and results of the previous year, and then introduce the new candidates for the 2018-2020 term. Get to know them in person and feel free to place your requests and suggestions for topics in the upcoming term. Who are they? Come and find out! And join us in thanking the current Co-Presidents for all their efforts over the past two years, too.
"Women are particularly good at diplomacy. It does require the human touch... women are much better at having peripheral vision and multi-tasking, and having the capability of telling it like it is. Many of the best diplomats are women, although there are men who can do it." Madeleine Albright, the first female U.S. Secretary of State
If someone asks you to think of a diplomat, what image first comes to mind? A man in a suit? Many men in suits? How many female diplomats can you think of? With the world in constant conflict and no end in sight to the seemingly endless political and trade tensions, diplomacy is more important than ever. Is there such a thing as a women’s perspective in diplomacy?
We are delighted to have two distinguished speakers, Heidi Alberta Hulan and Dr Ewa Nowotny, share their experiences and expertise in a discussion panel moderated by Mickela Moore. Come and share your views on diplomacy and whether a woman's approach is different to that of a man? We are interested to hear what you think!
