PWN Dublin: Gender Pay Equity - An Irish Perspective

20 September 2018 18:00 - 20:30 Mercer Head Office

PWN Dublin is delighted to announce our next event in collaboration with our Global Partner Mercer.

Please join us for an evening of investigation, analysis and debate on ‘Gender Pay Equity’ and hear the findings from Mercer's recent survey in Ireland.

Pay equity — the notion that pay levels should be equitable for all employees regardless of their demographic background — is top of mind for many executives. In fact, interest in this topic has reached new levels, as exemplified in recent efforts by large organizations, particularly in the technology sector, to publicly discuss and disclose their achievement on pay equity (e.g., the difference between women and men in term of cents on the dollar) and existing processes.

In Great Britain, mandatory gender pay gap reporting legislation was introduced in 2017. Under the legislation, organisations with greater than 250 employees were required to submit their first report last month. The reported data indicates that on average 77% of employers pay men more than women, giving rise to a median gender pay gap of 9.3%. Whilst the majority of employers met the April reporting deadline, to date 585 employers have reported late. The expectation is that similar legislation could be introduced in Ireland by the end of this year with draft legislation set to be brought before the Oireachtas in advance of the summer recess.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn, debate and network with Ireland's leading Professional Network.
