Master suppression techniques – identify and dismantle them!

10 December 2018 18:00 - 21:00 LEAD Network

In this presentation and workshop by former PWN Stockholm President Sara Jonasson Ginters, we will explore how power sometimes manifests through master suppression techniques. You will find that these techniques are applied in all circumstances where there’s an imbalance of power and that we all use them. Sometimes you exercise them, consciously or unconsciously, sometimes you’re subject to them. To gain knowledge about them will help you deal with situations more objectively and thereby reduce the negative effects these techniques can have on you.

We will look at the most common techniques, what causes them to occur, how to identify them and most importantly how to dismantle them. We will also talk about how you can act when others are exposed, to support the people around you.

With the knowledge you will gain and through the practical exercises in this session, you will be inspired and ready to contribute to healthier professional and personal environments.

After nearly 17 years and a successful career at one of the world’s largest IT companies, Sara Jonasson Ginters decided to leave to pursue her dream to influence organizations to become more diverse and inclusive. She now runs her own company and supports organizations to create more inclusive recruitment and workplace practices. One of her passions is to talk about how companies need to re-think their inclusion and diversity practices to increase the pace of change, with a focus on innovation as a driving force.

In addition to her extensive and international experience from IT, she has held several positions on the boards of the Professional Women’s Network (PWN) Stockholm and also led Cisco’s women’s network in Sweden. She is also one of the coordinators of #teknisktfel, the tech industry’s #metoo movement in Sweden.
