PWN Stockholm Annual General Meeting 2020 & AW seminar "New Year's resolutions done right!"

22 January 2020 18:00 - 21:00 Druidborgen

We hereby invite all our members to the 2020 Annual General Meeting (AGM), on January 22nd, 2020.

The AGM will be followed by our monthly event, open to all participants.  Feel free to invite a friend to join the after work event once the AGM finishes!

We are very pleased to welcome guest speaker Martin Oscarsson, licensed psychologist and author, as our guest speaker for the January after work event. Martin will kick off the New Year with a fact-filled seminar on the psychology of New Year's resolutions and what you can do to make sure to stick to your goals in 2020.

The AGM is an important forum for our members to influence our network moving forward. We encourage you to take the opportunity to express your suggestions on speaker topics, activities etc - your feedback is warmly welcome in advance of the meeting by sending an email to one of our board members or at the AGM itself.

Please let us know if you will attend the AGM by registering to this event. Please note, if you register to attend the AGM you don't need to register for the AW as we will run the AW immediately after the AGM.

Special call-out

Are you interested in joining the PWN Stockholm board? Being a PWN board member provides a valuable experience to work on a board and to become part of a multicultural collaborative team of resourceful women. As a key part of our PWN Stockholm governing articles we open up the board positions that are either new or where the tenure of the VP or President has lasted more than 2 years. All our board positions will be confirmed through our voting process at the AGM.

The available board positions are:

Secretary General & Treasurer – main role is to support the executive management of the board as the custodian of records, contracts and legal documents, as well as ensure follow-through on all board work action points. Treasurer responsibilities include budgeting, managing finances and reporting.

Requirements: The PWN board is a working board; this means that you will work with your fellow board members to develop and implement the PWN Stockholm strategy to secure a sustainable growth of the network, and will be accountable for delivering tasks associated with your role. No previous experience of working on a board is necessary. You will be required to attend monthly board meetings and have been a PWN member for one year to apply. We require at minimum a 2-year commitment if you're a successful candidate to ensure quality and consistency.

What you can expect: Further career development, expanding your network, representing the PWN at local and national levels, attending board social events and being part of a great team!

Please note that the positions are performed on a voluntary basis.

Deadline for application: December 20th, 2019

January AW - New Year's resolutions done right!

Licensed psychologist Martin Oscarsson is a co-author of the book Tio i tolv (Natur & Kultur), a book on how to succeed with New Year’s resolutions and personal goals. In this talk, exciting psychological research is interspersed with tips, tricks and hands-on exercises on how to increase chances of success when striving toward personal goals.

At the start of every new year, millions of people around the world pledge to change some aspect of their lives. More often than not, New Year’s resolutions relate to positive behavior change, such as quitting bad habits and forming new and more beneficial ones. Unfortunately, most people who try to lose weight, quit smoking or start exercising fail, most of them during the first three months of the new year. Increasing the likelihood of people succeeding with their New Year’s resolutions and other personal goals could both be beneficial for the individual and for society. On the basis of this, psychologists Martin Oscarsson, Per Carlbring and Alexander Rozental, at Stockholm University, followed over 1,000 New-Year’s resolvers in the largest study on New Year’s resolutions conducted to date.

In the study, a majority of participants considered themselves successful in sustaining their resolution – at every follow-up. This result was in part aligned with previous research on the subject, indicating that New Year’s resolutions done right could be an effective method for behavior change. This, and much more, at this year’s Annual Meeting!
