re-thinking empowerment through Art

WHEN Wednesday, February 12th, 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
WHERE Grand Visconti Palace, Viale Isonzo 14, (MM LODI)

Beatrice Catanzaro is an Italian-Swedish artist, researcher and professor internationally-known for her long-term "socially-engaged" artistic practice. She investigates issues such as cultural exchange and migration with a special focus on the feminine realm.

During the evening, in collaboration with The Artist Partners, Beatrice will at first engage the audience with an exercise aimed at reflecting on what the word "empowerment" means in correlation to our personal narratives and biographies. After sharing our thoughts, she will discuss about how the term "empowerment" changes in significance according to different settings, while presenting her experience as co-founder of Bait al KARAMA  – the first women's centre in the heart of the Old City of Nablus (Palestine). In Nablus, Beatrice has been working to combine a culinary social enterprise with activities of art and culture, run entirely by women.
