PWN Rome | INVITATION | Building forward: women leaders determine the new normal

28 September 2021 19:00 - 20:30 Luiss Business School

We have lost no less than one generation of female leaders to the COVID-19 pandemic. Professional women aged 36 to 45 are exhausted due to the significant increase in their unpaid work (housework, school and care). This is especially true for full-time professionals in senior positions and for those with educational and care responsibilities.

To reduce the gender gap, action must be taken in several areas at the same time:

● to increase the female employment rate by developing new job opportunities;

● to develop services and infrastructures that set women free from the burden of care;

● to define legislative interventions and initiatives aimed at promoting gender certification for the purpose of reducing the pay gap and increasing the rate of participation in business decision-making processes;

● to establish bodies and tools for the ex-ante and ex-post monitoring and evaluation of gender impact.

According to EUROSTAT, European women earn about 16% less than men when comparing the average gross hourly wages for men and women.

In Italy, too, some data clearly emerges: men’s salaries are, on average, higher than women’s. This applies to all professional categories taken into consideration (managers, employees, middle managers, blue-collar workers) and at all levels. Men are better paid early in their careers.

All the institutions, at the political and government level, are engaged on this front. This is why we invited two authoritative exponents to talk about it:

Laura Pennacchi, representative of the Government, who, on behalf of the Minister of Labour, coordinates the Working Group on female employment and wage inequality.

Eleonora Mattia, President of the IX Commission of the Lazio Region, the first to approve the regional law proposal on the promotion of equal pay between the sexes, the support for quality female employment and entrepreneurship, and the enhancement of women's skills.

The event will be moderated by Vincenzo Manfredi (Ferpi).

The event will take place with a mixed formula: the two speakers plus the moderator (plus someone from the PWN Rome staff) will join in person (Sala Verde, Luiss Business School) while all other participants will follow the event online. It will be organized in talk-show mode, leaving the final part to any questions/interventions from the public.

After registration you will receive link to connect to the webinar!
