PWN Stockholm: What defines Swedish Culture

08 February 2017 18:00 - 20:00 LEAD Network

What defines Swedish culture, and how is it reflected in our social relationships and communication patterns?

This AW is open to internationals and Swedes with an interest in Swedishness from an intercultural perspective. We will look at the historical and sociological background to contemporary Swedish values, with focus on the Nordic views on the individual and the collective, the private and the public, the subjective and the objective. We will further explore the Swedish communication patterns for direct and indirect communication, based on these dimensions. The AW will be concluded with a brief discussion on tools and methods to ensure better intercultural communication in business and everyday relationships.

Sofi Tegsveden Deveaux is the co-founder of Bee Swedish, specializing in Swedish language and cultural training for international professionals and academics. Originally trained as an architect, and with strong international ties both professionally and personally, she takes fresh angle to explore Swedishness beyond fika, lagom and and mys.
