This month's topic: Getting back on track - the effectiveness of cognitive behaviour therapy
Speaker: Dorothy Foster
Individuals may suddenly find themselves overwhelmed by life, and experience a period negative of change of behaviour- anxiety, depression, panic disorders, phobias, stress, obsessive compulsive disorder (habits) PTSD or psychosis. This affects their physical health and hampers normal functioning.
Dorothy Foster will describe how and why CBT has now become the psychotherapy treatment of choice for these mental states by NICE (UK), and the National Institute of Mental Health in the US. She will give a brief overview of the history of CBT, how it works, how the sessions are structured, and the role of the therapist.
