PWN Global Newsletter Q1 2017
Q1 2017
Dear PWN
Community,
Now is the time to stay strong
Women’s rights are a hot topic since Trump’s
inauguration. Many fear this might just be the beginning of an ugly
patriarchal era. It’s now that we need people, women and men, to
stand united for women’s rights, be it for their reproductive rights
or their earned right to lead. Make sure to read on and if you are not
already part of PWN, join our
leading global network of people who believe in balanced
leadership. Please share this newsletter
with your friends and colleagues and encourage others to join
our movement!
On 22nd January millions of people, across the
globe, came together to stand up for women’s rights in the Women’s
March following the inauguration of newly elected President Donald
Trump. It is amazing to see how many more people gathered so
spontaneously for the Women’s March in Washington than for the
inauguration. His response was a devastating blow to these rights by
reinstating the global gag rule. It says a lot about the divide and
that we need inclusive leaders to build bridges, not walls. And that
need is even more imperative since Trump’s immigration ban.
I feel very proud that we are launching multiple
initiatives at PWN networks that will help women stay strong across
the globe, and enable them to assume leadership to build those bridges
and foster inclusion rather than exclusion. These leadership
attributes that women bring more naturally are needed more than ever
to help our organizations and societies prosper.
NEW PWN Global Development Programs
Be it the launch of our International
Mentoring Program or the kick-off of our EU
Business School certified Entrepreneurs Program, we are doing more
and more to support women in creating new opportunities. Find more
about both programs below. And keep an eye on our Lisbon network to
see the great events they will be organizing to mark their 5th
anniversary.
Giving Back – Fellowships and Research
We are also making sure to constantly improve our
offering. Check out our INSEAD partnership that enables our members to
apply for up to 25%
off their executive MBA program fee . And make sure to fill
out this survey – it will only take a few minutes – that we
are running with Madrid University to strengthen our knowledge
of what professional women need from networks like ours.
Awards
The people at the helm of our networks are being
recognized more and more for the great contribution to balanced
leadership. PWN Global board member Rob
Baker recently received the award of ‘Honorable Guy’ from
the Institute of Women’s Leadership, and our Executive
Director Wendy Mackey Jones, has been awarded ‘Iconic
Women Leader’ by the prestigious WEF .
Get Involved
PWN board positions are a great way of advancing
your career and increasing your visibility. At our City Networks we
often have open positions. At PWN Global there is a list of board
members that we are looking to find. We are also keen to find a
digital transformation expert to support us intensively in a 3-6 month
project. If you’d like to find out more about these roles, please be in
touch.
2016 was a wonderful year with great steps
forward with a new website and members platform and our fantastic
global Me-Totem event in November in Milan – check
out the video. Even though 2017 might look a lot more
challenging, I am convinced that if we remain strong it will be
another year of growth, for us as individuals, for our organizations
and for the PWN network.
