PWN Munich is Re-Launching
Anyone who has ever been involved in running or working in a volunteer-led network will know the challenges this brings. When that network crosses geographical and diverse cultural boundaries, the complexity is vast. Seeking a consensus on global governance and translating that into local policy and delivery mans that there are lots of moving parts for relationships to flourish.
Pre-Covid, our PWN Munich city network was the jewel in the crown for PWN's presence in Germany. The newtork fell into decline, and we have been working hard ever since to find the right time to revive it.
That time is now!! But why? Reactivating a Professional Women’s Network (PWN) in Munich specifically holds a number of strategic advantages due to the city’s unique characteristics and opportunities.
Here are the reasons why our City Network Development and Sustainability Team has chosen to place its efforts here:
- Economic Hub: Munich is one of Germany’s major economic centers, home to numerous multinational corporations, innovative startups, and a thriving SME sector. This provides ample opportunities for networking, mentorship, and collaboration for women professionals.
- High Employment Rate: With a strong labor market and low unemployment rates, Munich offers a dynamic environment where professional networks can thrive and contribute to career advancement and business growth.
- We have history and a following in Munich - PWN Munich was a very successful PWN City Network a few years ago.
There are numberous economic benefits that the city can enjoy by providing their population with a PWN City Network:
- Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: A PWN city network can provide female entrepreneurs with resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities to start and grow their businesses, contributing to economic diversity and innovation.
- Career Advancement: Through professional development programs, workshops, and training sessions, a PWN can help women advance in their careers, leading to higher income levels and increased economic participation.
- Talent Retention: Companies that engage with PWN city networks can attract and retain top female talent, reducing turnover costs and increasing organizational stability.
In addition to the economic benefits, there are many social benefits that result from the presence of a PWN City Network:
- Gender Equality: Promoting gender equality in the workplace can lead to more inclusive and diverse work environments, fostering creativity and innovation.
- Support Systems: A PWN City Network provides a supportive community where women can share experiences, challenges, and successes, leading to improved mental and emotional well-being.
- Role Models and Mentors: By connecting women with role models and mentors, a PWN presence can inspire the next generation of female leaders.
Importantly, the set up of a PWN City Network can bring technological benefits to an local economy:
- Digital Literacy: Our programmes and events can offer training in digital skills, ensuring that women are equipped to thrive in the increasingly digital economy.
- Innovation in Technology: Women’s perspectives can drive innovation in technology and other sectors, leading to more comprehensive and user-friendly products and services. Having a PWN city network in your vicinity gives you a niche talent pool to tap into.
The community and cultural benefits of hosting a PWN City Network are manifold:

- Cultural Enrichment: Events and activities organized by PWN can enrich the cultural fabric of Munich, promoting diversity and inclusion.

Finally, the educational benefits will provide an important contribution to Munich, or any city that welcomes a PWN hub:
- Lifelong Learning: PWN can offer continuous learning opportunities, including certifications, courses, and seminars, to help women stay competitive in their fields.
- Youth Programs: Initiatives aimed at young women and girls can encourage interest in STEM fields and other traditionally male-dominated areas, laying the foundation for future career success.
To re-launch PWN Munich we need your help
We are seeking to find a new President and Board that is willing to take on the challenge of re-kindling our once brilliant PWN Munich Network.
We have a lot of enthusiasm from one of the former PWN Munich Presidents and a few founding Board members who are willing to provide guidance and advice to incoming board members. We are also in exciting talks with a leading global insurance company that has offices in Munich, ready to sign up as a Corporate partner.
Do you have what it takes? Get in touch if you'd like to find out more and make this dream a reality!
