PWN Global: Welcome New VP Entrepreneurship, Patricia Zeegers

Since 2015 Patricia has been doing some impressive work as the VP of Mentoring and more recently President of PWN Barcelona. She is now delighted to be stepping up to serve on the PWN Global Board as VP Entrepreneurship. Patricia will use her experience gained at senior positions at companies such as Nike to help more women in business, globally.

Patricia Zeegers, VP Entrepreneurship, PWN GlobalHer first task is to recruit more volunteers to the Global Entrepreneurship team to help her with the following focus areas based on the recent World Economic Forum meeting:

  1. How can we improve access to and development of financial and human capital?
  2. How can we help facilitate connections by increasing access to local and global networks and markets?
  3. How can we help entrepreneurs embrace diversity in their hiring, culture and thought?
  4. How can we support women’s entrepreneurial growth in the face of changing technology?

We invite you to join us in this much-needed conversation, to debate the issues and discuss actionable next steps. For every woman entrepreneur we help raise up, perceptions will change, and so will actions. This work will include working with public and private sectors, local governments, business leaders and helping women gain access to the latest technology.

When we invest in women, their communities, states and countries prosper, which generates a multiplier effect and sets a positive example for the next generation of girls. In fact, it’s been shown that when women earn an income, they invest 90% back into their communities.

Patricia will also be asking for your support at the upcoming EU elections. According to WEP only 30% of the entrepreneurs in Europe are female. In order for that to chance we also need political support and a good start would be if political parties nominate an equal number of women to men in the upcoming elections. For more information, take a look at the WEP Manifesto.

As part of International Women's Day, the EU marked the occasion with the publication of a new report on equality between men and women. In this report Vĕra Jourová, Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality, said "Gender equality is not just about women. It is about our society, our economy and our demography. We want to guarantee that women are truly equal to men in front of the law. We will also continue work to empower women, so they can make their own choices when it comes to their careers and their families."

About Patricia

After years managing high-profile projects for one of the most renowned sporting brands in the world, I felt an essential piece of the puzzle was missing for me. I didn’t have a larger purpose. I wasn’t making a difference. So, encouraged by Nike’s very own moto, I simply Just Did It!

I packed my bags, I packed the invaluable skill-set I learnt with them and I packed as much courage as I could muster and settled in sunny Barcelona and started Business Basecamp.

Today, I’m committed to empowering women in the Mediterranean region. I have also become an active contributor to the internationally operating Professional Women’s Network (PWN), and recently have joined the PWN Global federation board as the VP of Entrepreneurship. I’m thrilled to be able to be an agent for positive change and equality in this wonderful part of the world!
