PWN Global Collaborating on Gender Equality Manifesto

PWN Global has been collaborating with other women’s associations (including EWMD, EWOB, WEP) to develop a European manifesto setting out what legislative actions we want to see from EU policymakers to improve gender equality for professional women in Europe. Several issues are covered in the EU Gender Equality Strategy, but we are calling for more action sooner.

We want to encourage policymakers to continue to take action to close the gender inequality gap, which has got worse during the pandemic, as highlighted by UN Women and others. Currently, the EIGE index which stands at 68% across Europe, demonstrating it will take nearly three generations to achieve gender equality at the current pace.

The European Parliament recently backed EU rules on mandatory disclosure of gender pay gaps for companies with over 50 employees to help close the gap.

Susannah HaanSusannah Haan, former board member of PWN Global, is heavily involved in the development of the Manifesto, "It is good to have different professional womens' groups collaborating so that our messages are amplified, which should ensure that policymakers are more likely to listen to us - at European level, we are stronger together."

We'll be reporting on the progress of the Manifesto in future PWN Global newsletters, later this year.
