PWN Global Newsletter Q2 2020
Coming Together By Staying Apart
Dear PWN
friends,
'Coming together by staying apart' is the new
norm.
As we look to the future we all understand we are
living in unprecedented times with the arrival of Covid-19, so staying
connected is more important today than it has ever been. Our
political, financial and social institutions are under huge
strain.
Let’s be clear, first and foremost this is a
‘people crisis’.
Everything we stand for as a human race is being
challenged. It brings me back to the definition of
civilization.
Civilization (or civilisation) comes from the
Latin word ‘civis’, meaning someone who lives in a town. A
civilization is generally an advanced stage of organisation. That
means it has laws, culture, a regular way of getting food and
protecting the people. All of the above have come under threat, and
while we have seen high levels of anxiety in society, we have also
seen strong leadership and the best of humanity coming to the fore,
stripping us of all our 'nice to haves' and bringing us back to our
key priority - our people. Family, friends, colleagues, our
communities …PWN Global. Our people are our greatest
resource.
The current situation provides an opportunity for
our community to demonstrate agility in terms of how we adapt to
working individually and collectively during a period of uncertainty -
reinverting new ways in which we can support each other and furthering
our mission of working towards gender balanced leadership in business
and society. The power of our collective community is coming out
strong as we support each other during this time of uncertainty and
turbulence.
As an Association, one of our strengths is the
opportunity for our community of 30 city networks to connect for
events and workshops. Our global entity delivers upwards of 600 events
a year, and how we support you over the coming months is going to look
different. Thankfully, during the past three years, we have already
embraced the concept of virtual learning with our regular series' of
webinars.
This channel of delivery will be ramped up
considerably over the next period of time to support all our members,
and ensure that you continue to have access to high quality content
and events (albeit virtually, for the moment).
Did you know, all PWN
Premium Members already have access to over 60 hours of original,
exclusive webinar content on topics that are of exceptional relevance
during these unusual times? You can take a look at the back
catalogue of our live webinar recordings here, and the topics that we will be
covering in the forthcoming months, here.
As the way we go about our daily lives is being
reinvented, we encourage you to continue to renew your memberships
during this time to ensure we all keep connected. If you are
not already a member or have let your membership lapse, please do take
time to join us - keeping connected to a support
community is more important than ever.
Enjoy this edition and please remember to forward
it to your friends and colleagues who you think will enjoy it
too.
Please stay safe, stay well and stay
connected.
Best regards!
